Kharkiv has been under a relentless attack for the past three days. Drones, ballistic missiles, rockets. The city on the quiet moments feels like it’s holding its breath and waiting for the next explosion. It’s exhausting to live in this atmosphere.
The city lives. The morning after the awful night, I saw people going for a morning run. The concert hall was full. The art exhibit opening was packed with people. I went to photograph the damage after the attacks and then walked through the park counting spring flowers.
At home that evening I opened a box of perfume samples my friend Olha Gritsenko, a popular Ukrainian perfume writer and blogger, sent me. We don’t want to stay behind the trends, right?
I sampled a few and recorded this video. More reviews will be coming. It was so enjoyable to listen to the aromas and decode notes.
