Hello Victoria, I apologize for posting on something not related to your post, but would you please tell me how I can obtain a copy of your book The Rooster House?

Thank you,

Jane

Hi Jane, in the USA you’ll find The Rooster House at most major bookstores (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million) and on audiobook platforms.

Thank you 😊

So very interesting your comparison of the two. London and Boston are quite similar in my mind for the mix of old and new. London is less cohesive and of course far older.

Just pre-ordered the cookbook, thank you for writing about it! Love thinking about what scents places evoke for me. Another way of thinking about and knowing places. Beautiful article!

So happy to hear it!

Brilliant framing through scent memory rather than just visual comparisons. The idea that Odesa's smell is "expansive and restless" while Versailles "smells inward" realy captures something deeper about their character. I'd argue that this approch could extend to other sensory layers too, like sound or even temporal rhythm. Makes me think about other port cities that carry that same restles quality.

Thank you, it struck me as poignant at the time. Maybe because I just returned from Odesa, so that frame was in my mind very clearly. You’re right that you can extend it to other senses, as they are all interconnected.
